This scary light fixture hangs over our bed. Nastia is terrified we will be impaled while we sleep...lol. |
‘What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men …… That is what love looks like.’ - St. Augustine

Wow - bright, but not as garish as I was picturing in my head (I've got a vivid imagination obviously).
ReplyDeleteI think that there is NO way I could have toured that apartment with the landlord and held in the laughter the entire time! That is quite the inspired decor. And I'm with Nastia, I think that overhead light would make me too scared to sleep!
ReplyDeleteI truly love that teal and yellow combo. . . on a silk scarf, perhaps, or as a high school sports team's uniform colors. ; ) I LOVE how Nastia glows so luminously from the reflected yellow. That's not going to be so flattering on you. ; )
ReplyDeleteI love your earlier description of the young woman who showed you this place, and how this much be considered very high end and classy for Siberia.
And the inner steampunk in me admires how the can-lights look like grommets. . .
See, what's not to love?
LOL! It's funny but after all of descriptions of rooms with cockroaches and scary toilets first thing I noticed was: clean!new!wow! ;) That's why these colors suddenly look great! :))
ReplyDeleteDoes it come with a robot to serve your coffee?
ReplyDeleteWay too cool!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteWow! :D Jeremy and I laugh about how my favorite colors (blue-and-yellow) make up all the public living space in our house. . . but gray-blue and golden yellow have quite a different effect than teal and neon yellow! lol Glad you found such a clean and cheery place to live!!
ReplyDeleteWow! How illuminating!
ReplyDeleteThat yellow will certainly stave off any depressed emotions!
So glad you are in safe space. Maybe you can turn on some music and teach the girls how to do the robot in there!
Wow, that is dramatic.
ReplyDeleteThat is wild! All those angles reminds me of how weird the house in the movie Beetlejuice looked after the woman and her strange decorator got through with it. You can't possibly feel sad surrounded by that much yellow.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! What is it with Eastern Europe's fascination with the 80's?? We saw some real doosie places while we were in Ukraine, too.
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeletethat is utterly fantastic and i love it beyond all reason. what fun! and how different than what i thought you may be landing in. looks clean and bright and i think you were 110% correct when you said that no one can possibly be unhappy when in this apartment.
ReplyDeleteWOW I think it's kinda cool!!!
ReplyDeleteoh my.......
ReplyDeleteSomeone put a lot of effort into decorating(?) your place.
It takes a lot of thogught to come up with something that....cheerfull(?)
Now, look at this - you've stumbled into someone ELSE'S little Nirvana. Wow. Totally unbelievable....especially in Siberia - talk about the last think on earth one would expect!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place! Glad you found some place safe and certainly very bright!! Post more pictures if you can. Neighborhood pics etc. Very curious to see what Kemerovo is like. We stayed in Novosibirsk and I am curious if they are alike.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this is a unique spot or if more places look this "unique"...
I showed the pictures to my 14 yr old daughter without giving her a chance to read the title of the post or on the pictures and LOL she made the same comments (Nastia matching the decor and said it reminded her of the George Jetson decor!) I thought that was funny.
ReplyDeleteI agree it would be hard to be depressed with all that yellow! So is Anya living with you?
Mary in TX
The blue and gold are the colors of the Kazakhstan flag, and I'll make sure Tania sees the apt! It really does look like a cartoon. Hang in there, Keri!
ReplyDeleteSo many of your comments made me laugh! I SOOOO know God chose this crazy place for us, bc it puts a smile on my face every morning. HOw can it not? It is sooo crazy! I'll post photos of the neighborhood soon. It seems like there is never enough time for everything. I still have soooo many thank you's to email for those who have donated, and respond to so many request for info on hosting...and..and :)
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, Keri! That beats the apartment I looked at in Salem that had HOT PINK shag rugs!
ReplyDeleteWell... it's... uh... sunny. LOL. Between this post and the "things you don't want to know" post I'm dying laughing over here. Oh my!!
ReplyDeleteLove the detailed posts, btw!
Leslie
Well I guess if you get bored you can look around and have a great laugh. Do you get dizzy at all? LOL I bet she was proud of her apartment. One of a kind as far as I am concerned!
ReplyDeleteJust glad you have space. God has an amazing sense of humor! haha
