‘What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men …… That is what love looks like.’ - St. Augustine

Photos I Forgot To Post

Here are a few photos of last week's visit to St Pete. Realized I never posted them!

One of the many canals...

View near where we were staying on Nevsky Prospekt. I loved the architecture...

And another...

Street artists everywhere....

Details above the windows at the Hermitage. Nastia took this....

The ceiling in Saint Isaac's Cathedral...

Anya wandering the Hermitage alone...

Nastia said she was imagining Princess Anastasia dancing in this room.
A guide later told us it was a fact!

  1. Hi there - I just wanted to introduce myself. We have a lot in common: My DD's name is Anya, she is from Siberia, it took us almost 6 years to bring her home, our case was covered all over the Russian media (in Jan 10), we lived in Siberia (Irkutsk) for 2 months earlier this year - have spent over 5 months in Irkutsk over the years.

Just wanted to say hello - and let you know that i will be praying for you. I know how hard it is to live in Siberia...well, in Russia. I remember the milestones of our trip that about broke me. I have many friends who have been missionaries all over the world, and they warned me that at 6 weeks, the culture shock would come back, and I would have a hard time...and they were right!

I have a friend who is currently in Irkutsk adopting her son, she will be there for (likely) 2 months too.

Anyway, just wanted you to know I am here - if you need someone to laugh with you or to feel your pain!

It's just like in the 1997 animated movie Anastasia - I haven't seen it in years. The golden ballroom.
It's exciting to see this place really still exists.
I'd love to see more street level photos like the one with the street artist. Walkways, doorways, etc. I love the architecture too :)
