Those are the words Anastasia greeted me with when I came home from work on Wednesday. She was yelling it from the bathroom.
" Mom! Go RIGHT in your room and look near your computer!" She yelled a second time. so, I take off my coat and boots, and saunter into my room, expecting another painting or maybe a lego sculpture. But instead, I find this:
After I screamed from shock, I yelled back, "What did you do????"
"Oh, mom, I just needed a change. Didn't you ever feel like you needed a change RIGHT away or you would go nuts or something?" She added. " PLEASE tell me you like it!"
And, to my surprise, I did. Here are the photos I then took of Anastasia with her own pretty well executed haircut. I'm still not over the shock of finding a foot of hair on my computer keyboard, but I am liking the new 'do'. ...
Holy cow! That's a lot of hair! But, it looks like she did a great job and looks great!
ReplyDeleteShe looks so cute with her new do!
ReplyDeleteI had something similar happpen to me. K and N plotted between themselves and my 13 year old (then) appeared one evening with at least a foot of hair missing AND a completely different colour too - aagh! After the initial shock wore off i conceded that it did look ok and since then (N is now 14) we've been a number of colours and styles. It's not the end of the world if they have short hair and whose hair is it anyway? Anastasia has every right to express her individuality. I think it's great that she has the confidence not only to do this but also in you to react in a calm, loving and supportive way. Many kids who haven't been adopted or had any of the other challenges that your lovely girl has faced wouldn't've had the confidence to do this for fear of their mams reaction. What an amazing compliment to your love and patience that your daughter trusts you enough to do this. I'm with you on the no more surprises for a while thing though! that's enough excitement for now! xXx
ReplyDeleteWow she did a good job!! She should donate it to locks of love.
ReplyDeleteShe looks great! (locks of love) I know you can donate it. jeNN
ReplyDeleteShe looks beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! My eyes almost popped out of my head. lol I had only read the first line and saw the picture.
ReplyDeleteShe did a great job though. Very cute. lol
She looks beautiful! And look she even has it bundled correctly for locks of love. Smart girl!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that on my other site post. It does look really good! I laughed so hard reading this. What a great kid, full of surprises! How fun!
ReplyDeletewow, that must have been quite a shock indeed! she did a perfect job though, it realy suits her and looks beautiful
ReplyDeletejust came across your blog and it is fabulous! I love your daughters style, I know exactly how she felt as I am currently sporting a self cropped do ;)
ReplyDeleteWow yes I am sure that would be a shock...but how cute she looks...xx
ReplyDeleteLove it! She's a girl who knows what she wants and goes for it. Her hair looks great! You are such a good mom!
ReplyDeleteShe looks beautiful! She is well on her way to womanhood now, where sometimes you just have to have a change, and the easiest change is hair. K, remember that place you went to, where the crazy new age guy chopped over 12" off because "it had bad energy"? I laugh every time I think about that. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL I'm 28 and I do this all the time. Just gather it up and lob it off. Saves me a lot of money from hair cutting places and most of the time (If I use sharp scissors) nobody can tell I did it myself. hehehehe
ReplyDeleteVery, very cute. I'm sure you were shocked though.
ReplyDeleteShe looks great!
ReplyDeletelol~I have just started reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteI could not help but laugh at the ponytail she cut off, reminded me of when my daughter was 2 and cut the entire side of her hair off which was way down her back.
I love her new cut though, it looks good on her.
