‘What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men …… That is what love looks like.’ - St. Augustine

Stop the Presses!!!

In less than 10 hours a total of $690 has come in to the Anya Fund via the paypal link. Ten hours. I wish I could express in words what I'm feeling right now, but I am truly too stunned.

Dear Friends, thank you for caring for Anya financially when I can't. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my post and respond. Thank you for trusting me, a stranger to many of you, and sending your hard-earned dollars for a girl you do not know, living thousands of miles away.

I have more than enough to send her now, so no more donations are needed. I even have enough to send her money next month! And after that I should be in better shape financially myself.

It's hard to humble yourself to ask for help. Before becoming a mom I never would have the audacity to do it, but love calls for putting aside our pride. Love calls us to reach out for help sometimes, even when it feels uncomfortable. I'm grateful to my friends like Leigh, Lisa and Ashley who have reminded me of that.

'Besides, God is able to make every blessing overflow for you, so that in every situation you will always have all you need for any good work.'

~ 2 Corinthians 9:8 (italics mine)

  3. Oh, Kerri
I just did the unheard-of thing (for me) of posting some soul-baring thoughts, in appreciation of your blog.... but I did something wrong, & poof, it's gone! And now I'm turning into a pumpkin... (it's late-ish at night!)so I'll just let you know that I'll be sending a card to Anya. I've just run out of international stamps, so it'll be a couple of days before it gets in the mail. It'll be coming from Canada.
(I'll be back to try & rewrite what disappeared!)
With lots of truly heartfelt stuff,
    Carolyn (Turner)Myers (Gordon '89)

  4. Ah, so now you can't think that nobody reads. Even I tried to send something (despite my usual knot in the stomach that I would give to anyone when my kids' families are in such trouble), HOWEVER this was serious.....BUT my PayPal was empty. I've put some money in there from the bank, but it takes a few days to clear.....then, since I know the need won't go away, I'll buy a book!

  6. Keri, I'm going to buy a book too! I could not access paypal when you asked ... gotta get the current password from hubby (I must have tried close to 20 combos! - 'was afraid it'd freeze me out!). I also want to add $ for shipping. 'Wondering how much that would be? Thanks for the address info! I'll send Anya's pkg off tomorrow or Friday at the latest!
