‘What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men …… That is what love looks like.’ - St. Augustine

A Quiet Return

I've been away for months, and I miss it. Writing is in my blood, but 'blogging' takes some getting used to. I shouldn't even bother to try playing catch-up. Too much to ever possibly set down here. So, I'll start fresh from where we are at: Nastia and I are hosting a little girl from the Ukraine soon, and are very excited about it. Anya remains in a kind of limbo overseas and we still wait and pray for the day she is with us forever. We spoke to her last night and she was inconsolably sad, and begged me to come be with her now. All you mothers reading this know that my heart was ripped into shreds at the hearing of that. If it were only that easy to see her. but, that said, her pleading for her mom (me) has me brainstorming today on ways I can quickly raise the airfare to get over there in, say, August. We'll see..

Mentally, emotionally and spiritually all is good - great even. Physically, not so good. But I'll spare you the details. Suffice it to say: The auto-immune disease has brought along some friends of late, and my body seems host to all kinds of new and interesting challnges these days, but I am not going to let them spoil my party. They are my teachers, I've decided. I'm going to look at each moment as a great gift from God..a lesson He couldnt teach me any other way.

Nastia and I just came in from starting our garden. Today it was giant sunflowers, tomorrow it's the veggies, if my body permits. Oh, and the photo is of Nast's new haircut, with bangs.

Peace from my corner of the world to yours...

  3. Great to see you here!! Nastia looks very much like her sister with the new haircut!

That's awesome you're hosting a girl from Ukraine this summer...I didn't know they had a hosting program.

  4. It is good to have you back. Now, I can't wait to go look at the photo-listing and wonder which child you are hosting. Oh! How I wish we could have hosted! As it was some fundraising efforts over the years are our church enabled me to donate money to completely host one little boy and give substantial scholarships to two more - I can't think when something has made me so happy as to be able to do that!!!
